Title
Should Tibet be free?
Introduction
There is remarkably big controversy going on between Tibet and China.
Obviously, it is about Tibet's wanting liberty from China.
Tibet's mental leader and the winner of Nobel Peace Award(1989),
hero Dalai Lama, is rebutting against China for very long time,
but the issue still remains among them.
In 2008, Beijing Olympic caused some trouble about this issue as well.
It was about Tibet requesting the freedom to the world again
when the Beijing Olympic was being settled. Tibet precisely
did that because they tried to notify this matter as many people as they
can and get interest and spotlight from the world.
Unfortunately, Chinese government had repressed Tibet's protest
for their independence and suppressed Tibet to settle Chinese society
atmosphere during the Olympic.Historically, Chinese government
used a military force to colonize Tibet.Nevertheless, it was not very successful
to capture Tibet completely and nowadays,Chinese government
established various new political and social policy in Tibet in order to
established various new political and social policy in Tibet in order to
incorporate Tibet. For example, new policy is to let minorities to
lost their identity and assimilate them into Chinese culture naturally.
Also, China has been coming between Dalai Lama and Tibetan monks,
and prohibiting their religion.
Why does China argues that Tibet belongs to them and ignore
Tibet's voice for independence? To answer this question, we need
to understand the Chinese ideology, which is deeply entrenched into
Chinese society. As a socialist government, their ideology is very
important and significant to society. For instance, the catch phrase for
2008 Beijing Olympic was 'One World, One Dream'. This may be a meaning
for peace and harmony, but can be translated into the government's
strong ideology and importance of socialism.
China believes Tibet as one of them, and does not understand why
China believes Tibet as one of them, and does not understand why
Tibet wants independence.
Since Tibet history begun 13th century, they still hope
for independence. Dalai Lama insists the freedom from when he was in
India for exile. However, there is some intersting private view
about this issue. Now days, Many Tibetans wouldn't really care
about the freedom. The reason is, Tibet's economy and education is
developing and eventually it will make their life styles more convenient.
In fact, most of Tibet's cities are already modified into chinese style.
On the other hand, nearly all Chinese people think that Tibet isn't a divided
country at all because China is actually combined with many small countries
and different tribes. This is very realistic thing, before thinking
about the truth of this whole issue it is important to realize more
than 1 billion people wouldn't even think this is valueble issue.
Then what is really important?
It is about 'Does Tibet has history of their own to prove to the world that
It is about 'Does Tibet has history of their own to prove to the world that
they are independent from China?'. My answer is yes. Tibet has their
own kingdom and from 1911 to 1950 they were completely independent.
Having their own kingdom means they have their own history as well.
Also China has no excuse to say 'because Tibet is just near by
to China and all the small countries combined together and
found a country called 'China', it dosen't mean all the other
small countries have to admit this fact and now have to be called as China.
Then why does China wants Tibet as part of their country?
It is important to understand that China is a federation country
and they have 51different nations. China used to be divided
into many countries for very long time, and Tibet was one of them as well.
and they have 51different nations. China used to be divided
into many countries for very long time, and Tibet was one of them as well.
It would be disadvantage to China if they accept Tibet's independence
because it will eventually reduce China's potential power.
because it will eventually reduce China's potential power.
However, I organized this question's answers as 3 different ways.
1. Where Tibet is located is also very important for a strategic point.
2. Tibet is important place for geopolitics.
3. Tibet has massive mineral product which is diamonds, magnesium,
uranium 2000t of copper, 1000t of plumbum and zinc.
uranium 2000t of copper, 1000t of plumbum and zinc.
It is really embarrassing question to everybody apart from the person who
is really concerned. There are articles keep coming out in the online to
show that Tibet needs better treatment, and still there are some
show that Tibet needs better treatment, and still there are some
problems that needs to be resolved. According to what China is arguing,
all the nations are combined to one country, and found a country called 'China',
but there are many other nations that it is by their own self, such as
Mongolia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea. For China to accept
Mongolia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea. For China to accept
Tibet’s independence and liberty against them, they must change the
socialistic ideology and understand why Tibetans arguing for independence.

Hi good to see you agian~!
ReplyDeleteThis is YOON.
It was really impressive to look around your topic. Even though China has great power of population, those people are come from different cultures so Chinese government has tried not to divide their country sperately. If certain people get freedom. Chinal will be divided to pieces. And that point is what the government worries about....
So...Getting freedom would be tough and hard....
Do you have any ideas to overcome this problem ?
K Ah! and if you do not mind plz come to my blog and comment critically... I researched animal testing... Thank you~
Very interesting topic, Sung Yul. I heard about about the issue but had never looked at it in detail.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Tibet should have their independent if they wish for it. No country has the right to keep a group of people as a part of the country against their wish, especially, it's modern days now, the age of colonialism is over.
I mean look at East Timor in Indonesia, they fought for their freedom even though leaving Indonesia would mean they lose all the benefit from Indonesia's government. But they still wish for freedom and the world agree that they should be free. Now East Timor is an independent country.

ReplyDeleteFirstly, I know next to nothing about the 'free tibet' issue, except for enigmatic titbits (and the glossy badges) spouted often at random by the more pretentious members of my circle of friends (yes, they're all members of the Green party). This being said, your presentation of 'the facts' has me thinking a)Tibet cerainly has a history and near-functional economy as distinct from that of China, and b)yes, having the means to thrive independently, Tibet should be free. Certainly, examples abound of smaller nations that have survived and flourished after emanicipation from 'big brother' countries, so China's oddly condescedning refusal to allow Tibet the autonomy for which it persistenly begs is beyond comprehension. Personally, China intimidates me as an emerging super-power and my own ignorant classification of the East as Other (don't point fingers, I'm no bigot; I've just never been, that's all).
ReplyDeletethanks for the comment guys. will finish this today! Omg I need to fix many grammars here :(
ReplyDeleteI am with Samuel on this one, I have little knowledge of Tibet or of their plight for a
ReplyDelete' free Tibet'. What knowledge I do have is stored in my memory banks from high school about Tibet being an independent Buddhist nation but I couldn't remember until when till reading a little further in your blog.
I agree with point that where Tibet is located is very important. Don't they hold the worlds third largest water supply (although I'm quite so sure if this still applies given the global warming situation)? Could this be another reason as to why China is against allowing Tibet independence?
p.S could you post some links to your sources, it would make for good reading ^__^
ReplyDeleteHello Yoon I have read your blogs and really interested to the topic. I understand the why Tibet is important point for china with our historical background. There are a number of US army stays in Okinawa which is the ost south part of Japan. There are some activities to encourage to move US army to different place from Okinawa because there are some confrictions between local Okinawa people and US army but it was not going successful by now because Okinawa is important strategic point for both United States and Japan. What I want to say is it is easy to say Free something but it is hard to do - especially if it is linked with social aspects. So I think the independence of Tibet is need to be think for long term to solve it.
ReplyDeleteif you want some of the links than please go to my reference page. It's all there. I haven't heard about third largest water supply but thank you for telling me! I've got some of my informations from Korean website too. and Yutaro.. My name is SungYul ^^;.
ReplyDeleteInteresting topic! I've heard about this topic but had never looked into detail.. and I think getting freedom isnt't easy as what we think.. anyway had a great time reading your blog and if you dont mind plz come and read my blog
